Paralegal BillieJo Gray loves helping people, whether it be for personal or professional reasons. Being able to provide peace of mind for estate planning or helping someone through the painful process of probate, or even helping friends when they need an ear to listen to them, she values empathy as an important part of what she does. This commitment to caring for others is what drew her to work at Silverman Law Office, where she can make a real difference in people’s lives every day.
Jo was born on a marine base in North Carolina, but otherwise grew up in the Pacific Northwest, specifically in Oregon, Washington, and Montana. Bozeman is the farthest east she has lived since moving out west. Jo is the middle child and only girl in her family. Sadly, her older brother passed away in 2016. Her younger brother lives in the sunny state of Florida.
Jo spent many years living in Whitefish, Montana, where she raised her three daughters. Whitefish afforded her the experiences of exploring the wintery back country of Montana via snowmobile, going fishing at Whitefish Lake and Lake McDonald, or taking day trips in her convertible to Glacier National Park. Jo looks forward to making her first trip to Yellowstone Park sometime soon.
Jo is a very proud mama of her girls and what they have accomplished: Emily is a doctor in the Navy, specifically a flight surgeon, Jessica is a Title Officer in Bozeman, and Melissa is a Registered Dietician in Seattle.
Once her kids grew up and moved away, Jo moved to Spokane, Washington, where she spent 7 ½ years. Just recently, the opportunity presented itself for her to relocate to Bozeman where her middle daughter’s family lives. Jo gets to enjoy “princess dates” with her granddaughter and looks forward to meeting her new grandson who will be born in July, 2025.
Jo has a love for English Bulldogs and has had four of them. The one she has now, Rezo, is 10 ½ and is the only one who gets to boss her around. Rezo is the oldest Bulldog Jo has ever had, which is amazing.
Until 2003, Jo’s background was in the medical field and her hobbies included studying anatomy and muscle structure of the human body, and how the nervous system works. She stumbled into the legal field in 2003 as a temp and has been a legal assistant/paralegal since then but did take a break to discover the fun of being an Uber/Lyft driver for a while. The opportunity to meet so many different people, from other countries as well as the US, and hearing their stories and learning new things was an experience she won’t soon forget!
Jo was also a junior escrow closer at a title company in Spokane. When she was part of a large group of employees laid off after Covid, she took that knowledge and applied it to being a mobile notary specializing in real estate signings.
If she can make someone laugh then it’s considered a successful day!
