Attorney Kyle Sears was born in Malta, Montana, and was raised outside of Red Lodge. His life and career reflect a steadfast commitment to public service, justice, and an undeniable love for his beautiful home state. Holding an Advanced LL.M. in Air and Space Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands, a J.D. from the University of Idaho, a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Montana, and certifications in Meteorology from the United States Air Force, Kyle brings a breadth of expertise and a global perspective to his work—all grounded in Montana values.
Kyle’s dedication to integrity, resilience, and service took root early in life. It guided him through a distinguished start in the U.S. Air Force, first as a meteorologist, then in the JAG Corps, where he supported both domestic and international operations. Upon completing his J.D., Kyle transitioned to prosecution with a strong sense of purpose: promoting fairness, accountability, and public safety. Beginning his career in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kyle later returned to Montana as a trial attorney with the Gallatin County Attorney’s Office, where he managed and prosecuted hundreds of felony cases. His decision to live and work in Bozeman reflects a profound connection to the people and values that have helped shape him.
Before joining Silverman Law Office, Kyle served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA), assisting in the federal prosecution of cases under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). In this role, he worked to protect survivors of gun violence, domestic abuse, and sexual assault, helping to keep Bozeman a place free from abuse and fear.
Kyle’s legal experience extends from Montana to the Netherlands. While serving as legal advisor to the Royal Dutch Air Force’s Space Command, he advised on complex issues including international law, international arms regulations (ITAR), and intellectual property in the realm of space. These global engagements expanded his legal perspective but ultimately reinforced his commitment to making a difference at the local level.
Despite having a varied résumé, Kyle’s decision to build his life and career in Montana underscores a core belief: that the pursuit of justice begins at home. Outside of work, he reconnects with the natural beauty Montana is so famous for. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, motorcycling, and is working to complete his pilot’s license.
