Student Opportunities

Summer Associate – Bozeman and Helena 

Compensation: $40 per hour 

As a Paid Summer Associate at Silverman Law Office, PLLC., you will be an integral part of our legal team, contributing to meaningful projects and gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of legal practice. Your responsibilities will include:

Duties:

  1. Legal Research: Conducting in-depth legal research on statutes, regulations, and case law to support ongoing cases and projects.
  2. Drafting Documents: Assisting in the preparation of legal documents, including briefs, memos, and contracts, under the guidance of experienced attorneys.
  3. Case Analysis: Analyzing and summarizing legal documents, deposition transcripts, and other case-related materials to assist attorneys in case preparation.
  4. Court Filings: Assisting with the preparation and filing of legal documents with courts and administrative agencies.
  5. Client Interaction: Collaborating with attorneys to communicate with clients, gather relevant information, and provide updates on case progress.
  6. Administrative Support: Handling administrative tasks such as organizing case files, maintaining legal databases, and managing correspondence.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this position, candidates should possess:

  1. Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Juris Doctor (JD) program or equivalent legal studies. Applicants should have completed either their first or second year prior to the summer. Top 10% preferred. Law review or journal experience preferred.
  2. Research Skills: Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex legal issues.
  3. Writing Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
  4. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in legal analysis and document preparation.
  5. Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and support staff in a fast-paced legal environment.
  6. Initiative: Proactive and self-motivated, demonstrating a willingness to take on new challenges and learn from experiences.

We believe that with the way we run our practice, we are setting an example and helping to change the legal culture of how clients are treated and the relationships they have with their legal counsel, for the better.

We feel fortunate that we are able to offer a wide range of legal services to help people with legal problems they cannot solve on their own. At the end of the day, we feel good about what we’ve done and how we’ve helped to relieve our clients of their legal burdens. To this end, we’ve created the Silverman Law Office, PLLC Legal Helper Scholarship for a student who is dedicated to providing legal help and services to others.

We know that a career in law is just one of the many noble avenues a student can choose in order to pursue helping others with their legal issues. We believe that with our help of funding the education of a student who is like-minded and with similar values to those we model in our practice, we will be helping to improve the field of law and other disciplines that help people with their legal issues, and to thus make the world a more compassionate place.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This scholarship is open to any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional program in the United States. This includes accredited community college students as well as high school seniors and students who possess a GED who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited program.
  • The scholarship applicant must show their dedication to helping people with legal issues and have clear education goals to be able to do this in their future career. This should be explained in their essay by telling the reader what their past achievements and goals of helping people with legal issues have been, as well as their current goals to be able to do this in the future.
  • All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above.

Essay Questions

Answer the following questions and prompt in an essay of 1,000 words or less:

  • What experience or experiences have you had that informed your decision to want to help people with legal issues?
  • How have you already helped people with legal issues?
  • Explain your ultimate educational goals and how they will enable you to continue to work to help people with their legal issues?
