Feeding our Community

Posted on January 11th, 2021

As the holiday season approaches and families in our community are struggling to make ends meet Silverman Law Office wanted to jump in to help. Due to the pandemic kids are attending school only twice a week. During a typical school year, kids have access to breakfast and lunch five days a week. In addition to the school food program, the local grade schools receive supplementary food packs from the local food share. But currently, the local middle schools and high schools do not have these resources provided. This is why Silverman Law wanted to help!

When kids have access to healthy meals every day, they feel better, do better in school, and have fewer behavior problems. They have what they need to grow and just be kids. At Silverman Law, we want to see the kids and families in our community have access to the support that they need to be successful. Our team packaged grab and go food bags to drop off for the school. In each bag, we provided breakfast, lunch, snacks, and a few Hershey kisses.

There are many ways that you at home can also help promote your community pantries and food drives. During the holidays try hosting a food drive at one of your family gatherings. You can send out your invitations and add bring pantry food that will be donated. Or you can host a virtual food drive. A virtual food drive is where you create an online fundraising page. You can then send your friends and family links to donate online and the funds will be sent to the organization to purchase what they need. Or similarly to us, you can host a drive at your office. In addition or separate to these ideas you can also drop food off extra packaged/canned food to your local schools and food banks.

As you can see there are many easy ways to organize a food drive or help your local food share program. We hope during this holiday season while you are spending time with your loved ones you find ways to give back to your community.
