Associate Attorney Job in Bozeman, Montana

Employment Type: Full-time

Base Compensation: $100,000 to $150,000 annually, plus significant bonus potential

Billable Hour Requirement: 1,400 hours annually

Office: 1745 S. 19th Ave., Suite 2, Bozeman, MT 59718

Minimum Qualification: Montana State Bar license, or eligibility for admission

About the Position

Silverman Law Office, PLLC is hiring an associate attorney for our Bozeman office. Bozeman is one of the fastest-growing legal markets in Montana. Our caseload includes new business formations, real estate transactions, families estate planning, and more. As an associate attorney, you will step into active files and active client relationships within your first month.

This is a client-facing role. You will run your own consultations and manage your own matters, with senior attorneys reviewing your work and handing you theirs, not standing between you and the client. Our 1,400-hour billable requirement sits well below the industry norm because strong work and strong client relationships both take time, and we staff accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client consultations and manage matters from initial intake through resolution
  • Handle files across estate planning, business law, real estate transactions, tax, and related practice areas
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents while keeping clients informed at every stage
  • Deliver clear communication to clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel, including when the news is unwelcome
  • Assign work to paralegals and legal assistants effectively and with respect
  • Mentor junior staff while taking mentorship from senior attorneys in return
  • Build a presence in Bozeman’s business and civic community

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active Montana State Bar license, or admission eligibility by examination or UBE score transfer
  • Strong legal writing, demonstrated through the required writing sample

Preferred:

  • Experience or coursework in estate planning, business, tax, or real estate law
  • A track record of client service, inside or outside legal practice
  • Ties to Montana, or a genuine intent to build a life here

Every candidate is measured against three characteristics: hunger, humility, and smarts. We are looking to hire an attorney who goes after work instead of waiting for it, owns mistakes and shares credit, and reads people as accurately as documents.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary between $100,000 and $150,000, set by experience
  • Significant bonus potential tied to individual and firm performance
  • Health, dental, and vision premiums paid 100% for employees and 75% for family members
  • Employer-funded HSA contributions up to the full IRS limit, single or family
  • Retirement plan with a 3% employer match
  • Student loan repayment plan
  • Continuing legal education support
  • Relocation package for candidates moving to Montana
