Office: 3334 Harrison Ave., Butte, MT 59701

About the Position
Silverman Law Office, PLLC is seeking an associate attorney for our Butte office. Our Butte practice offers an established, loyal client base, a cost of living far below any comparable market, and a varied caseload. Attorneys here handle estate plans for multi-generation families, formations and transactions for local businesses, and the tax and licensing questions that follow both.
The role puts you in front of clients immediately. Your files are yours to manage, and your consultations are yours to run. The senior attorneys reviewing your work treat are committed to your growth and success. We cap the billable expectation at 1,400 hours a year, well under what most firms demand, because rushed work and neglected clients are how firms lose the reputation we have spent two decades building.
Responsibilities
- Communicate plainly and honestly with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel, even when the message is hard to deliver
- Manage matters across estate planning, business law, tax, real estate transactions, and neighboring practice areas
- Conduct client consultations and see every matter through from intake to closing
- Draft, review, and negotiate documents while keeping the client in the loop at each step
- Hand work to paralegals and legal assistants clearly and with courtesy
- Learn from the senior attorneys above you and teach the junior staff coming up behind you
- Show up in Butte’s civic and business life as a visible member of the community
Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Montana State Bar license, or eligibility to be admitted by exam or UBE score transfer
- Writing skill you can prove with the required writing sample
Preferred:
- Coursework or practice experience in tax, business, estate planning, or real estate law
- A history of taking care of clients or customers, in law or any prior career
- Roots in Montana, or a real plan to grow some
Hunger, humility, and smarts are the three traits we look for in every new hire: an appetite for finding work rather than awaiting it, the honesty to claim your mistakes and credit your colleagues, and a client-focused mentality.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary from $100,000 to $150,000, scaled to experience
- Substantial bonus potential based on your results and the firm’s
- Full employer payment of employee health, dental, and vision premiums, with 75% paid for family
- HSA contributions funded by the firm all the way to the IRS limit
- Employer retirement match of 3%
- A student loan repayment plan
- Continuing legal education covered
- Relocation help for candidates moving in from elsewhere
