Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: Top of the Montana market, with a bonus structure that treats base pay as the starting point
Billable Hour Requirement: 1,400 collected hours annually
Office: 1745 S. 19th Ave., Suite 2, Bozeman, MT 59718
Minimum Qualifications: Five or more years of litigation experience and a Montana State Bar license
About the Position
Silverman Law Office, PLLC is hiring an experienced litigation attorney for our Bozeman office. The firm maintains a noted civil litigation division handling contested business, real estate, probate, and trust matters for clients across Montana.
We describe the workload honestly. The 1,400-hour collection requirement sits below industry norms, but litigation runs on court deadlines. Stretches of trial preparation, discovery, and appellate briefing will require more than a standard week. In exchange, this role carries first-chair responsibility, direct client relationships, and compensation that leads the Montana market.
Responsibilities
- Carry a full caseload of contested civil matters from pleading through trial and, where needed, appeal
- Translate a client’s chaos into strategy and their fear into forward motion
- Lead client consultations with confidence, including conversations where the truth is unwelcome
- Write briefs and argue motions under deadlines that courts will not soften because you are busy
- Delegate to support staff with intention rather than by default
- Engage in the honest internal debate that sharpens case strategy, and hold your position only as long as it deserves holding
- Absorb adverse rulings without losing confidence or compassion, and return to work the next morning
Qualifications
- At least five years of litigation experience
- An active Montana State Bar license
- A documented history of favorable judicial rulings and trial outcomes
- Command of the rules of civil procedure and the rules of evidence, strong enough to rely on under pressure
- Clear communication in writing, on your feet in court, and across the table from a client who does not want to hear what you have to say
- The confidence that comes from preparation and command of the facts, not bravado
The people who hire this firm come to us at the worst moments of their professional or personal lives. Whoever fills this role must understand that the work affects real people and carry that responsibility as seriously as we do.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation at the top of the Montana legal market, with bonus potential that makes base pay a floor for strong performers
- Health, dental, and vision premiums paid in full for employees and at 75% for family members
- HSA contributions funded entirely by the firm
- 3% employer match on retirement
- Student loan repayment assistance
- Continuing education support
- Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
The Bozeman Office
Our Bozeman office at 1745 S. 19th Ave., Suite 2 serves Gallatin County and the fastest-growing region in Montana. Growth produces disputes: contract fights, real estate and construction conflicts, business divorces, and estate contests. A litigator here will not wait for work, and because matters move freely among the firm’s five offices, the docket extends well beyond the valley.
About Silverman Law Office
Silverman Law Office represents businesses, families, and licensed professionals statewide, with practices in litigation, tax law, business law, estate planning, probate, real estate, and regulated-industry licensing. Founding attorney Joel Silverman holds an LL.M. in Taxation and has practiced for more than 20 years. The firm has grown from one office to five, driven mostly by clients who return and refer others at nearly twice the profession’s typical rate. Litigators here are supported, compensated well, and surrounded by colleagues who share a commitment to client-centered results. We celebrate success and failure, even though losing is never easy.
